If you have never skiied before, ski lessons here
before you go is a smart and excellent choice. The
physical exertion of learning the basics (how to fall and get up, for one thing)is much easier and effective at sea level, where there is plenty of air to breath, than at 8000 or 9000 feet where the air is thin. A lot of people avoid 'altitude sickness' in this manner.
